ARRRRRRRRRGGGGH!

Oh...yeah, we do this for the children! We are having the worst experience with Katelyn's softball league this year!

To begin with, if you remember, Katelyn achieved her place on her Jr High team a while back...then when season was almost over, we registered her for "rec" softball. Seemed to be going well...even though Katelyn and one other on her team had ever played organized softball before...we still thought it was gonna be OK...

when the first game came along and they gave me the official book to keep...our team had 10 players, one of which never showed up for anything...so technically we had 9 players. The other team had 16 players. It seemed a little lopsided, but ok. The next game, they gave me the book again...we had 9 players, they had 15 on their roster. aaarrrgh. There are only 3 teams in our league...one with now 18 because some players signed up late, another with 15, and us with 9. I know...

Now we're at the end of our season. Our rt fielder is from Mexico and has gone with her parents to visit family there...so yep, now we're down to 8. Ya know, they'll let us play an official game with 8, but, it's an automatic out when you get to the bottom of the line-up.

Then, one of the girls, has a mother that has decided that this struggle is "bad for her child's self esteem"... ugh.

Now, one of the girls has been really sick and missed 3 games...obviously not her fault...

So, with all this drama, we now have a team of 6 wonderful girls that want to play ball. It stinks that we show up for games, to see that we only have 6 and make our girls forfeit the game...4 of them to date...

and the latest is that Monday we had a game on schedule for 7:30...we get there early only to be told by a girl on the other team very smugly (remember these are 12 yr olds) that yall forfeited to us cause no one was here at 6:00! Come to find out, they had called our coach late Monday afternoon and officially changed the game time to 6:00...he was at work and couldn't call everyone....

I don't know where to go from here! But we have a super great team of girls that have learned to play softball and what it means to be a team...against all odds. They have been such troopers with exception of one...poor self esteem and all...and we have seen such improvements in each of them!

Oh yeah...don't forget that we paid our $50 to register just like all the other teams...and how could we forget about all the gas that we've had to pay $4 / gallon for to go to those practices and forfeited games...?

All this has left us thinking some pretty ugly thoughts. Oh well. If only we were in a perfect world....

...well, as of this evening, we are down to 5 players. One poor girl has broken her toe and can't run.... :) now what?
