Proverbs 10:25

Economic storms expose evil. Like when the ocean tide goes out, you are able to see those in the water who are naked. Dead wood is swept away, no more to be seen. It may seem like the wicked are prospering, but eventually they will be found out. The Holy Spirit shakes out sin, so it can be seen and judged. As the Lord promised His children in the past, "I will shake the house of Israel" (Amos 9:9).

What used to make a lot of noise and draw the attention of the elite, has lost its creditability under scrutiny. Economic storms collapse businesses and ministries who are dependent on debt, and conversely they cause good churches to increase in attendance. There is a purging of pride, and all manner of excess is exposed. What really matters in life: faith, family, friends, food and shelter become priority. Storms reveal worth.

Moreover, those who cling to Christ are not shaken. He is our cornerstone that no degree of chaos can challenge. The Bible says, "Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever" (Psalm 125:1). The righteous cannot be moved, because their Master is immovable. Therefore, stand firm in the Lord.

Furthermore, your stability in your Savior is security for your family, friends and work associates. Your unwavering faith during difficult days helps them replace panic with peace, fear with faith, and compromise with conviction. Indeed, if all you have left is a firm foundation of faith, begin building back God's big vision. Are you a wise builder? Jesus said, "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock" (Matthew 7:24).

Related Readings: Job 20:5; Psalm 37:10; Acts 2:25; Hebrews 12:

We must hang in there and do our best to keep on keeping on for him! The goal has not changed, we are still on that mission to get to heaven and bring everyone else with us! Build this house/nation upon the rock Mr. President! Build it upon the Rock of Jesus Christ, the one and TRUE Savior of the world...!

Some Lessons of Life...

When I'm feeling down, I like to whistle. MY 8 YEAR OLD HAS NO NEED TO KNOW DETAILS OF SUCH A THING BUT NO TEACHER HAS THE RIGHT/RESPONSIBILITY TO SHARE SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN A CLASSROOM WITH MY CHILD IN IT OR ANYONE ELSE'S CHILD IN IT EITHER FOR THAT MATTER!

I tried to contain myself and said..."Well, we talked about the economy yesterday Sam, and I told you that you have nothing to worry about. We have plenty of food to eat, gas to get to the places we want to go, clothes to wear, and hot water to take showers with, and a little bit to help other people with. (He had asked me that yesterday afternoon when he came through the door, but was satisfied with the answer I gave by inspiritation of the Holy Ghost-I don't know what I'd do without it) And, as far as the stuff she said about Senator Obama - well, I feel pretty sure that he has never done that himself, and your substitute teacher had absolutely no right to tell you anything like that because it is kinda hard to explain, but right now it doesn't affect you." Sam looked at me for a minute and said, "I don't know why she said that - maybe cause it's Halloween?" So, I followed with, "hmmm, maybe?"

So. today happens to be Parent Teacher Conference Day! How convenient I must say! I found myself waiting in the hall of the school thinking - what do I say? Mrs Johnson walked out to the door and invited me in. "I said I heard you weren't here today, have you been sick?" She said, "No, and I really wish I had not been chosen to go to the faculty meeting today at central offices." I said, "So, you already know about what happened today in the classroom with the sub?" She was on the verge of tears as she said I have a wonderful group of students and they are soooo sensitive to how others feel. I cannot imagine what the parents are feeling and facing tonight...much less what i'll be facing tomorrow. The principal and I are going to meet after I'm finished with the conferences and get a plan together for the day" I told them all that I did not vote for Obama today. I am in no way ashamed of that, but I think something like that needs to be set aside in a third grade classroom. I assured her that Sam doesn't miss a trick. He understood the whole process from what the lady told the class, and that he most assuredly will ask about what that sub meant. I also told her and the principal that what that lady did made me sick. I do not mind the teaching staff of the school to inform and teach about the process of the election and even conduct a mock vote, even talk about the economy to some point, but when it comes to moral issues like partial birth abortion, gay marriage, and gun control - I want to be able to discuss those things when my kids are ready. I told the teacher, guidance counselor, and principal that I would be praying for them to have the direction they needed in the morning for those children. I'm not sure but I feel great to have a group of concerned parents involved in their third grader's life...out of 27 students, 20 of us had already come into the office to complain and put it in writing for the lobby of the dismissal of the sub in question.

I then began to reminisce about my administrative duties at the church day care in fayetteville, NC. Once I had an afternoon part time teacher tell a group of four year olds that there was really no Santa Claus! Another teacher made her three year olds color all the people brown during Black History Month, but any other time of the year the people could've been purple as far as she was concerned...I just wonder why in the world some people feel the need to be crusaders?

Please - let us parents be parents. So far, God thinks we must be doing alright with our kids cause we haven't been zapped away - and they all seem to be breathing ok. Not much else to say except, NEVER ASSUME THAT JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS A PIECE OF PAPER THAT SAYS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO KNOW SOMETHING - IT AINT ALWAYS SO!!! PLUS, YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT "ASS-U-ME"ING ANYTHING! :)

LOVE YOU ALL! WE'RE IN THIS FOR THE LONG HAUL PEOPLE!
Peggy

Happy Fall Y'all!

Well...we have our first snap of cooler weather, and we're getting in the mood for the change of seasons around here! How exciting! Fall Festivals, Homecoming, Pumpkins, and my favorite - pretty leaves! Fun!

Hunting season...as you well know,Gary is in heaven this time of year...Sam has joined him with his love for the woods, and Kaleigh loves it even more than Sam! I totally expect her to kill her first deer by the time she's 6! Katelyn is way too tender-hearted to kill anything...she likes to go and "film" the event for her dad. She really loves to drive the 4-wheeler the most! As for me...hunting time = quiet time at home...? yeah right! :)

I don't know about you, but this begins a great time of reflection for me! It's time to "be thankful" as Kaleigh says, and time to figure out what Santa is gonna bring...if anyone has been good?!?!?

I am thinking of all of you today - I should be doing my homework, but can't get friends off my mind and have checked out everyone's myspace, facebook, and blogs today...oh well. Don't know if anyone should vote for someone that couldn't get military clearance at all?
Peggy

Obama Couldn't Be Cleared for peon military position...yet alone commander in cheif.
Posted by George H. Wittman on 10.17.08 @ 6:07AM

The lowest-ranking enlisted persons in the Armed Forces of the United States who are expected to handle sensitive matters in the scores of jobs involving classified equipment or written material must be investigated before obtaining their security clearance. Could Barack Obama gain such a clearance?

To begin, the clearance applicant would have to complete a detailed personal history form that includes, if necessary, government access to all health and education files. This is the starting point of all security investigations. Top Secret clearance involves a field investigation rather than the Secret version that is usually limited to a "name check" that is a basic police and public information file review. For the TS clearance an investigator will visit the home neighborhoods and work place sites of the applicant in search of supportive and/or derogatory references.

If the clearance is extended further into the handling of information of such importance that it requires a compartmented distribution, the field and document investigation is pursued with considerable vigor over a lengthy period of time. Nuclear and other sensitive technical or political matters fall into this category.

In all cases, whether on the lower level or up to the most sensitive intelligence, the background of the applicant's personal and business involvement forms the nucleus of the initial phase of the investigation. The people with whom the applicant associates lead the investigator to personal connections and matters relative to the individual's character, beliefs and past acts appropriate to matters of security.

Eligibility for clearance at all levels is directly influenced by the people with whom one associates. Yes, who your friends are and have been does count -- a great deal. This is true, of course, in many types of police investigations where suspicion is adequate reason for further inquiry. In matters of security clearance, past associations often can mean the end of the process rather than just the beginning.

Considering Barack Obama as a candidate for a top secret security clearance status with a full array of compartmented clearances, one has to be cognizant of the fact that there is considerable evidence of associations and even assistance from individuals with past criminal records or who have expressed anti-American beliefs. Obviously admitted domestic terrorists William Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dohrn, as well as recently convicted felon, Antoin "Tony" Rezko, fall into this category.

There is no possibility that a Top Secret clearance would be awarded to a member of the Armed Forces whose background included such associations. An intelligence service clearance for the handling of highly classified material would be totally out of the question.
IF THERE IS SOME hesitancy to accept that Barack Obama's associations would have precluded his obtaining a TS clearance with compartmented information access, it should be realized he would have had to pass both a polygraph test and a personal psychological evaluation. What are the chances of his being willing to take these tests, to say nothing of his passing, in light of his refusal even to make his educational records available?

It may be deemed unfair, but a child of an American mother and a foreign-born non-U.S. citizen father always receives additional scrutiny. So does the fact that questions have arisen concerning the source of funding for Obama's law school education. According to a well-researched article by Kenneth Timmerman (Newsmax), Obama was assisted financially by Khalid al-Mansour through the latter's rich Saudi contacts. Mansour has been referred to as a "Black Nationalist and a Black Muslim" who was a mentor to the founders of the radical Black Panther Party of the 1960s.

All of these matters would have arisen in a normal security clearance. The harsh truth is that the United States is willing to accept presidential candidates like Barack H. Obama who could never gain a Top Secret clearance if he was simply a U.S. Army enlisted man. And yet Obama wants to be Commander-in-Chief. Something is wrong here!

Giftfest Summary Info...

GiftFest ’08 Summary- this includes all the events for the week. It was a wonderful time in seeing where God is working and getting right in the middle of it. It's a little lengthy read, but it was a wonderful thing! What a vision from God!

Our goals:

1. To express God’s love in an unconditional way by giving the citizens of Maury County a “gift” through FREE events.

The attendance at the various events: (extremely accurate estimates from actual counts and other methods such as tickets issued to each attendee)

Pre-concert events - 350
Carnival – over 2000
Giveaway – over 2000 (1200 plus at yard sale; over 500 families received over $10,000 in food; over $500 of baby products)
Montell Jordan concert – 1000
Phil Stacey concert – 1850
Xtreme Sports assemblies – 6 schools; 5500 students/faculty
Xtreme Sports harvest night #1 - 700
Xtreme Sports harvest night #2 – 1600
Fireproof Movie – 870

Total – 15870 People

2. To share the greatest gift ever given to man by the sharing of the Gospel to as many people as possible through a variety of methods.

9820 people heard the Gospel. Of this number, statistics tell us that 78% do not attend church on a regular basis – Conclusion: 7660 people who need the Good News heard it.

3. To see people come to know Christ as Lord and Savior.

As of 9/26, we have recorded 256 professions of faith.

Carnival – 3
Giveaway – 9
Concerts – 44
Xtreme #1 – 58
Xtreme #2 – 142

4. To create unity among the body of Christ and encourage Kingdom-mindedness among the churches.

Over 300 volunteers from 42 churches and 13 denominations/classifications all working together. To date, I have not heard of one significant complaint or problem. We have become close friends to brothers and sisters in Christ that we never knew existed. People of different denominations are continuing to help each other in areas beyond the realm of GiftFest.

5. To follow God’s leading in preparing the specifics of GiftFest and trust Him for the resources to accomplish His will.

Our original budget was $105K but we added the Fireproof movie as an event which increased it to $109K. Although all the expenses are not in, it appears we will come in under budget yet we have collected over $116K in donations. 99.8% of this came from churches, church members, and other religious entities. Less than $300 came from businesses.

It has been a tremendous privilege for me to observe God’s orchestration of this event for the past 18 months. From the very beginning, the hand of God has been clearly seen. He brought together a wonderful group of people for a common purpose. The team leaders were hard-working and servant-minded. Not one pastor was concerned about his “turf” or doing a menial task. God even moved people to our area from out of state to participate in this. Satan attacked from time to time but God gave us victory every time.

As you can see, the giveaway portion was only on part of the entire event. We met many great people that have a heart for God through this process. Some may be interested in “how” we did this. To put together a How To manual that describes a, b, c, etc. might be possible but truly, this came to us from above. To copy this exactly, would be a mistake. God worked in a unique way in our unique setting. It sounds cliché but the key was listening to God through prayer and trusting Him for things beyond our ability to comprehend. This truly was a God thing. We'd be glad to share more about the why's of the venues and ideas behind them. God is amazing.

Once again, there were days that I wasn't sure i'd make it through, we'd been gathering stuff, sorting it and throwing away the yucky stuff, calling and getting food ordered from anyone that would let us order great big quantities, and trying to keep up with my own household duties, schoolwork, my family, and our church. We were able to attend 6 funerals 2 weddings and 2 births in the two weeks preceeding the giveaway. On those days when we were so very tired, there'd be a little lady bring me all the clothes from her recently deceased husband and say I've had a hard time getting rid of these, but I believe in what you are doing. I assured her that it was an honor for me to take them and that someone would greatly benefit from them! Another day when we were slowing down, a large suv pulled up with a dad and five children who excitedly marched in with all their stuff for the other kids that need it worse than they do...then that U-Haul pulled up with stuff in it from three families- it alone was enough to fill a house with furniture. I finally tell you that when I got the first call about coordinating this, I said there is absolutely no way I would ever be in charge of it...then the phone call came to ask me to do it and somehow I heard myself say, "Yes, I'd be glad to take that on!" I hung up the phone and said - ok God, You got me into this, You better begin to take care of it!" You know He never sets us up for failure. He just wants us to let Him take control through us. He answered my prayer for creativity and understanding of the task at hand and by His grace and because He is so faithful it was accomplished!

I'm going to hang in there....

I really have not left you...I really enjoy my blogging...but with everything else coming down to the next few days, I haven't had the opportunity to make it work over here too....

Saturday September 20 is our Giftfest event. I have been appointed (suckered into) being the coordinator of the "Giveaway" portion of the event. It has consumed way too much of my time. I'm still going to school full time, and don't forget I still have three impatient children and Gary to worry with, and a church full of people that expect me to help them out from time to time...so, with all that said, I will give you pictures and update next week when I'm lying on the couch eating bon bons! :)

Giftfest 2008 is almost here!

On September 20th, all of the churches in Maury County will come together for the Kingdom of God! Dr. Pausch, the Carnegie-Mellon professor who delivered the now famous The Last Lecture speech about the importance of achieving your childhood dreams, became a friend and supporter of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. He was also a loving husband, a devoted father, and a mentor who not only influenced and inspired his students and colleagues, but went on to inspire thousands, if not millions of people to follow their hearts and their dreams. We will be forever grateful for his support and commitment. It is critically important to keep Dr. Pausch’s message, "to make every day matter in the fight against pancreatic cancer," moving forward. He knew the importance and urgency of getting the message out to help drive the research funding needed to fight this disease. His philosophy of "every day matters" was a testament to his determination and strength despite the odds. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network honors Dr. Randy Pausch for his humanity and bravery during his fight against this terrible disease. His commitment to our organization will never be forgotten. We will miss him. Sincerely, Julie Fleshman P.S. Letter to the editor of the local paper???

Dear Terrance and the parents of Winning Moves Team,

First off let me say that I do apologize for the bad experience that you have had for the 2008 softball season. To answer your questions and concerns to why Sam Hills and MTB & Joint had more experienced players on their teams is because the Sam Hills team has been together for 3 years, so therefore she already had enough players on her team before the season began and then her team dropped below 9 players and more players had to be recruited for her team. Stephanie Baker took over the team MTB & Joint clinic from last season because their coach decided not to return, so therefore that team has played together for more than 3 years with the exceptions of 4 players. The reason Stephanie's team has so many players is because she had players that were on the MTB & Joint team that signed up later and had to added to the team they played on the year before. If you read the League rule book on returning players and teams, you would understand how that works. We do not have blind draws for coaches and teams. Terrance ended up with the girls that were left after the draw and even then there wasn't much of a draw because neither established teams had to draw for more that 2 players. Again, these are rules that are explained in the rule book. If you do not have one, which I gave 2 copies league rule books along with 12 copies of the and parent/player handbooks.

I was never made aware of the fact Winning Moves was in need of players. Had I known we could have taken the necessary steps to get additional players for Winning Moves. I am not a hard person to find nor call. I have been at the ball field every single night throughout the season.(I can't believe he added this part...our coach has complained after every game, and why hasn't he noticed? everyone else has)

We cannot be responsible for injuries, sickness, and players going out of town, that is something that is beyond our control. (of course) If these were issues that began at the beginning of the season, then I or another board member should've been told. As far as the game being rescheduled, I wasn't aware of it, because to my knowledge, there were no changes made to the schedule without the changes being sent to the coaches via email or being called if no email address was available.

Unfortunately, we cannot give any refunds on player registrations because the season has come to an end and those fees went towards uniforms, umpires, field maintenance, and insurance for the players. We are having closing ceremonies on Saturday at 3:30 if you and your players would like to attend. All players get a participation award and I also need the name of a sportsmanship winner from your team. I have forwarded this message to all of the board members along with my response. Again, I do apologize about the bad experience that this has been for the team and parents. Please understand that we need some type of communication from the coaches also.
Jamie Lovett
Columbia Girls Fastpitch Softball League President
931-548-0067
931-797-6525

NOW WHAT???

ARRRRRRRRRGGGGH!

Oh...yeah, we do this for the children! We are having the worst experience with Katelyn's softball league this year!

To begin with, if you remember, Katelyn achieved her place on her Jr High team a while back...then when season was almost over, we registered her for "rec" softball. Seemed to be going well...even though Katelyn and one other on her team had ever played organized softball before...we still thought it was gonna be OK...

when the first game came along and they gave me the official book to keep...our team had 10 players, one of which never showed up for anything...so technically we had 9 players. The other team had 16 players. It seemed a little lopsided, but ok. The next game, they gave me the book again...we had 9 players, they had 15 on their roster. aaarrrgh. There are only 3 teams in our league...one with now 18 because some players signed up late, another with 15, and us with 9. I know...

Now we're at the end of our season. Our rt fielder is from Mexico and has gone with her parents to visit family there...so yep, now we're down to 8. Ya know, they'll let us play an official game with 8, but, it's an automatic out when you get to the bottom of the line-up.

Then, one of the girls, has a mother that has decided that this struggle is "bad for her child's self esteem"... ugh.

Now, one of the girls has been really sick and missed 3 games...obviously not her fault...

So, with all this drama, we now have a team of 6 wonderful girls that want to play ball. It stinks that we show up for games, to see that we only have 6 and make our girls forfeit the game...4 of them to date...

and the latest is that Monday we had a game on schedule for 7:30...we get there early only to be told by a girl on the other team very smugly (remember these are 12 yr olds) that yall forfeited to us cause no one was here at 6:00! Come to find out, they had called our coach late Monday afternoon and officially changed the game time to 6:00...he was at work and couldn't call everyone....

I don't know where to go from here! But we have a super great team of girls that have learned to play softball and what it means to be a team...against all odds. They have been such troopers with exception of one...poor self esteem and all...and we have seen such improvements in each of them!

Oh yeah...don't forget that we paid our $50 to register just like all the other teams...and how could we forget about all the gas that we've had to pay $4 / gallon for to go to those practices and forfeited games...?

All this has left us thinking some pretty ugly thoughts. Oh well. If only we were in a perfect world....

...well, as of this evening, we are down to 5 players. She will be missed to say the least! Granny had been "ready to go" for quite some time now.
Granny finished the course allotted to her by our Lord on May 16, 2008. She was born August 24, 1924. Seven children were blessed to call her “Mama”. James, Louise, Shirley, Linda, Regina, Jeff, and LeDonna blessed her with twenty seven grandchildren, thirty seven great-grandchildren, and twenty two great-great grandchildren.
Granny was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy for over fifty years. She served her church with making quilts, cakes, fried pies, and bar-b-que. All of this effort to support the Church and the Mission field that was dear to her heart.
Granny put her trust in the Lord. She realized that in the good times, and in the hard times that He was everything she needed. Many of her last days would find her singing songs that were a testimony of Him. One of her favorites was “Where Could I Go But To The Lord?”
Granny, we will miss you, but we are so glad you're "Home" to enjoy your reward! Thought I'd share it with you too... enjoy.
Peggy

Hurry Mom – hurry! As I grab the milk out of the refrigerator and begin to pour some on Sam’s cereal, I take a deep breath. I know what is coming. One of those moments that happens everyday, silly enough, one of those moments that I am sure I’ll miss when Sam is big enough to pour his own milk. I take the milk and pour just enough to keep me comfortable. Enough, but not too much. Enough milk that if he spills it, there wouldn’t be too much of a mess. And then it comes; the test. Sam takes his little hand and presses down the cereal with his palm – I almost laugh out loud. The cereal is not covered in the small amount of milk I have poured and Sam says, “MOM!” So, without any other words, I know exactly what he wants – more milk. So, I answer by pouring more. I have now poured a 5 year old a bowl of cereal with enough milk for two servings. Believe it or not, Sam is happy. Of course, all I get is “Thanks Mom!” I smile and reply with “No problem Sam, try not to spill it.”

As I am putting the milk back into the fridge, the Lord begins to speak to me: “Peggy, have you been pressed down this week? Has it seemed like the enemy pressed his palm on you and called for more? Has he poured more on you than you expected? Has he left you swimming in enough for two or three people to bear?” You won’t believe what I heard next. “Call for more Peggy. I have allowed you to be pressed down. You have been so consumed with what was doing the pressing that you didn’t realize what you were being pressed down into. Open your eyes look and see that you are surrounded by my river. Hurry, call on me for more. The enemy believed that if he held you down long enough, you would panic, if he pressed you down, you’d give up…but, I am calling you to a deeper place. Allow me to pour so much of My Spirit on you that you loose control and don’t have to worry any more. Release yourself into My care. Let My strength, salvation, and healing flow all around you. Come on, ankle deep – not good enough. Knee deep – not good enough. Waist deep – not good enough. Don’t stop until you are so deep that you are totally consumed. My river that flows from my throne is good enough.”

I realize now that what I have needed all along was what I have been struggling against.

Allow God to plunge you into His River! Do you have sin in your life? Plunge yourself into the cleansing flow. Sickness in your life? Step out deeper. Stress, pain, broken hearts? Keep calling for more of the river until you are swept away! You cannot be swept away until you give in. You cannot be totally submersed until you let all your air out and you willingly go under. Go ahead and let go. Let the flood of our great big God take you where He wants.

Think about this, Isaiah 59 (KJV) is a wonderful picture of just how our God sweeps in and takes care of us. “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” This gives us a picture of the flood being our enemy. The flood being more than we can bear. What if we move that comma and read it like this: “when the enemy shall come in, like a flood the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” Wow! What a change of scenery. Now we see the enemy being overtaken by the flood of the Lord’s Spirit! No longer will you see the enemy coming in “like a flood”, but you will see him being overtaken by the “flood of the Spirit.”

After all, who is bigger? Who is the maker of the flood? Let’s quit telling God how big the storm is and tell the storm how big God is! Are you pressed down? Call for more! Pour it out Lord. Surround me with Your River of grace, mercy, hope, and love!

As the familiar song says, “I am pressed but not crushed, persecuted, not abandoned. Struck down but not destroyed! I am blessed beyond the curse and His promise will endure and His joy’s gonna be my strength. Though the sorrow may last for the night, joy comes in the morning!”

Pour it out Lord. Let me be lost in You today.

A memory...

Every now and then, an event turns into a memory that lasts forever. The longer you remember it, the funnier it becomes! This is one of my favorites! I have caught myself laughing out loud today when thinking of it...I hope you enjoy.

Somewhere around 4 years ago now, we had just moved into our house on Myrtle Drive in Hope Mills and were the new pastor @ Fayetteville Breezewood. Gary had gone around to the church...less than a block away...for some kind of meeting? I heard a "fan" noise under the sink, opened the cabinets to find water squirting everywhere...I tried my best to stop it, it appeared that one of the flexible tubing things had been bumped off the connection allowing the fountain! So...I jumped in my car and drove around the corner (i thought that would be fastest) leaving the kids standing in the house looking at the water running everywhere. I got Gary, and returned home within no more than 5 minutes later to find this unforgettable scene...

Katelyn had decided to take charge of the situation. She had decided that the house was "going down". She had gone out to the swimming pool locker and had outfitted Sam and Kaleigh each with their life jackets, and had gathered all of the towels in the house, I mean all of the towels, whether bathroom or kitchen, clean or dirty, and they were now creating some kind of barrier for the water...

oh yeah, the water had to be turned off at the valve outside when Gary came around. We were able to quickly fix the problem without the water spraying everywhere, but the memory of the life jackets on my children will never go away! Don't ever think that Katelyn is not an assertive emergency preparedness planner! She still thinks pretty well in a crisis...but then, I haven't seen them that afraid that our house was going to be flooded ever since!

Just seeing those life jackets on a scared 4 year old Sam and a less than 1 year old Kaleigh standing there with her little swimming jacket on, and Katelyn in "action" mode...I hope you see the humor! It was something I hope I never forget...

How many times have we put our spiritual "life jacket" on in anticipation of a great flood coming our way...stressing out over something that we think is going to happen? Then I wonder how many laughs our Heavenly Father has had at our expense...

He is so faithful to us!
~Peggy

You're Gonna Miss This...

Here's the lyrics to a new Trace Adkins song, You're Gonna Miss This. Oh yeah, before that, the yukon wouldn't start...dead battery I guess. So...that gave me a whole day to study and be sleepy in the library... Chemistry is really for the birds. Then the hour drive home after an Anatomy and Physiology lecture is torture. Walked in the house, sat down for 5 minutes (not exaggerating) cooked Gary some supper, then Sam...herded everyone into the car to go to Katelyn's softball practice. Left Kate's practice to go to Gary's Church league team practice...arrived home around 8:00 just in time to turn on the Basketball Championship game...cheer Memphis on and fix supper for me, Kate, and Kaleigh...listen to Sam read a book, quiz Katelyn's vocabulary words for her TCAPs next week, get all three of them baths...start a load of laundry, begin to wonder how tomorrow will go...i have to get up early to take them to school, then come home and get ready to go to school myself...Chemistry again, dadblastit! then head home to begin the "practice" train...kaleigh practice teeball on one end of town, and sam on the other at the same time... (nobody ever told me there would be days like these when you're three children have activities that outnumber the two parents...) I am not sure how this is going to work...but I know it will one way or another. Just like the song says "You're gonna miss this" i know I will. It makes me cry to even think about how fast my babies have already grown...at this rate, they may have grown and gone by next week! I'm hanging in there...just might need some "make you focus and feel better with no anxiety" medicine before this is all over with.... can you help me out debbie? i love you!

God is faithful - even in this kind of mess...! :)
Peggy Ann Clements

What a Week!

Wow! what fun it was! Please take the time to read it! You will be blessed!
~Peggy

Sometime when you're tired of pushing your way through the mall, just sit down somewhere and watch the children. Playing amateur psychologist, I've observed children relating to their parents there on three different levels. First, there are the kids who are running ahead of their parents - until they suddenly realize they are lost in this sea of legs. At my height, that is a feeling I can relate to! There are also those children who are walking along, holding Mom or Dad's hand; they know the mall is not for the small, so they hang onto a tall. But my favorites are the little ones who are totally exhausted and sort of collapsed in their parents' arms. Their legs have gone on strike and their parents are carrying them. In fact, the child is often sleeping soundly with his head embedded in his parent's shoulder. Sometimes, I've even said to a parent carrying a child like that, "Now that's the way to travel, isn't it?" You know, it really is.

In those little children collapsed in their parents' arms is a helpful picture of how God may want you to be traveling right now. After all, you're pretty tired aren't you? It's been a long walk; there's been a lot of pushing and shoving and your resources are pretty depleted.

Enter the Apostle Paul in our word for today from the Word of God beginning in 2 Corinthians 12:7. Paul says, "There was given me a thorn in my flesh ... Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me." We don't know what Paul's thorn was, but, whatever it was, it was something that limited him, that frustrated him, that caused him pain. Paul thought what God would do was to miraculously remove it. God had a better idea.

Paul continues, "But He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

Now, Paul's first reaction to the thing that makes him weak, that's beyond his control is pretty much the same as ours - he struggles with it. But eventually, he ends up celebrating it! Why? Because he has discovered a power he could never touch when he was strong. Like that child in the mall with no strength left, he's experiencing in his Daddy's arms a strength and a stride that he could never experience on his on two legs.

Those children in the mall are a picture of how we experience God in a deeper and deeper way. First, we're running around, not caring where God is, until we realize we're lost and our Father finds us. Then, we move into walking along holding His hand, allowing the Lord to help us. I know I can't make it alone, but I'm still walking in my own strength. Then the "thorn" hits and something in my life that levels me. I can do nothing about it. It leaves me limp and powerless.

That's when I discover how strong a Heavenly Father I have. Not just one who saves me or helps me, but my Father who carries me. Now it's all Him! And you can go farther and faster in His arms than you could ever go on your legs! So you can honestly look at your powerlessness and say, "I'm glad I can't."

You see, at that point, you are about to taste God's grace and God's power as only powerless people can, and your struggle will become your platform for talking about a Savior who is all you need when you have nothing to give. It's time to look up and say, "Daddy, carry me." Because you're never stronger than when your Father is carrying you.

I know...wow!

Softball...Baseball...TeeBall...and More Softball!!!

Well...it's that time of year! In his chararastic optimism, he told his officers. "For the first time in the history of this campaign, we are in a position to attack the enemy from any direction we choose!

The story has been told of a shoe manufacturer who decided to open a marked in a remote region of the world, and sent two salemen to assess the situation. One man sent back the message: "Prospect here nill. No one wears shoes" The other man replied enthusiatically, "Market potential high! Everyone is barefoot!

do you look around you with "half full" vision, or with "half empty" vision? No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and in His love is made complete in us..."

This may be the most sobering test of our spirituality...to realize that our love for God can be measured by our love for others. Haven't we all failed that test at one time or another... To think that everytime we've failed to lend a helping hand, to listen to a hurting heart, to stop a critical tounge - we've chosen not to love God or obey His commandments.

Someone once said...
Once you say yes to Jesus and accept His blueprint for the fulness of life, the whole world can no longer revolve around you - or your needs - or your gratifications. You'll have to revolve around that world, seeking to bandage its wounds, love dead men to life, find the lost, want the unwanted, and leave behind all the selfish, parasitical concerns which drain our time and energies.

After all, Jesus said in Matthew 22 that the greatest commandment is to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, and that the 2nd is like it...that you love your neighbor as your self.

I don't know about you, but I usually make sure my needs are taken care of. I usually eat when I'm hungry, and I definitely sleep when I can.

I believe that this responsibility is not only for the lost and dying world around us, but also applies to the fellowship within the walls of our churches. It is so easy to neglect our brothers and sisters...after all, they know better than to get themselves into that kind of situation! I think that what we practice inside the walls of our church/home is what we will be able to use outside those walls! If we can't help each other, how in the world are we going to help those outside our families? After all...it's those relationships with other believers that give us the strength we need to keep walking in the right direction when we are hit with difficulties in our own life.

Hebrews 10 says for us not to give up meeting together, and let us not fail to remind each other that "He who promised is FAITHFUL", but look at this: it also says, "Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds"
We must cheer each other on...what can I do to see you cross that finish line?

John 13:34-35
"And a new command I give you: Love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

I think it's past time for us to love one another the way that we're supposed to...

I want to remind you that "HE WHO PROMISED IS FAITHFUL"

I love you...really, I do. :)
~Peggy

My Funny Valentine

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2pLFaGKfys8/R7Tz1PkB8EI/AAAAAAAAAD0/n_xygErSrHI/s320/gary1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5167022768537071682" />

"Still crazy after all these years...." ok, ok...enough. I know we laugh about hearing stuff like this in our altars at church, but...seriously... Hang on or Let go. It's our choice.

I know, it's not a simple choice...sometimes I think the things we have to hang on to change...and that alone requires us to let go. I'm not trying to talk in a confusing riddle, but...I find myself hanging on to more memories and letting go of my old comfortable ideas of how life should be...

The most obvious is that I now have a youth in my house instead of a child...Katelyn went to her 1st official youth outing last night (superbowl party...Yeah Giants). That was weird! I don't think I expected how it would effect Sam and Kaleigh. but, for Sam, you must understand that Kate has always been there with him...I mean she is the most motherly sister ever...most of the time it's Sam's nightmare, but when she's not there, his comfortable safety net is gone. It's funny to see how a change in one life will change others...
Sam spent the evening with us at church, then home to finish the game (which was great). He tries to aggravate the snot out of me with his cell phone that somebody thought he had to have...(he really doesn't use it enough for it to cost us anything) he is known to txt msg me from his bedroom to bring him a snack or something to drink...of course, I txt him back and ask him has he lost his mind...after all, we had him so he could serve us! He is convinced that life is not fair. Quite an awakening for an 8 year old. Thank God baseball is gearing up again...that will consume most of his energy!
Kaleigh...well she is sure that life would be best if she could have pasketti (spaghetti) and farmer-john cheese (parmeasan) for every meal. breakfast, lunch, and supper...she is only becoming more opinionated. I can only dream of what this will bring by the time she is 12. She told Sam..."So...Kate's gone with to Bernie and Tonya's...get over it." Spoken like an old pro! I can only imagine how she will feel one day when her "safety net"(Sam) is gone!
Gary has become quite the preacher! I am proud of him. He amazes me with how he brings a fresh, relevant, and exciting Word from the pulpit Sunday morning, night, and then teaches on Wednesday night. He loves it. Thank God for healing! We are seeing a drastic improvement meaning Gary is back to his old aggravatin' self...LOL! He is loving being with the kiddos and watching them change everyday. I only dread the day when our safety nets are gone...what ever will we do?
Me...well, all this hanging on and letting go is wearing me out. As you know I've been going back to school this semester...so, I'm going to get to "let go" of some stuff I've been holding on to and have a chance to do well on 2 seperate exams this week...chemistry and anatomy/physiology. I hope I have been able to hang on to the right stuff! Ha! But...over all, i realize that by letting go of some things will only give me more to hold on to...I hope you get that.

But most of all...God is Faithful!
~Peggy

For Blue-Eyed Science Nerds like Myself...

Just lookie here...another way to trace us all back to one ancestor...?

i love stuff like this. hope you do!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22934464/wid/11915773?GT1=10815

this is a link to a story about a mutation in our genes that causes blue eyes...it's of the opinion that everyone had brown eyes once upon a time...

I don't know, This is some pretty cool stuff to me! I'm officially a student at Middle Tennessee State University. I have attainable goals of getting all of my "pre-pharmacy" requirements out of the way and hopefully getting in pharm school soon...maybe fall 2009? well... with every new path in my life comes some of those laugh at myself opportunities. This week I got on the wrong campus shuttle, and enjoyed quite a tour of the campus and surrounding parking lots...I just thanked the driver for a quiet ride and laughed as I waited for the correct shuttle to take me to my class which I had intended to be very early for. Oh well...enjoy the scenery I always say, even if this week it took me on a 30 minute ride I didn't expect! ;)

later.
Peggy

Kate Made The Team!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2pLFaGKfys8/R5C9JhkyczI/AAAAAAAAADc/AhUOrpje440/s320/wms+tiger.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5156829544668361522" />
Woooo Hoooo! Bishop McKinley brought a powerful word. Somewhere in the sermon he put this up on the Powerpoint.

"REFUSE TO BE DEFINED"

I must say that he lost me there for a minute or two...but i know what he was talking about. His word was that we as a church should refuse to try to fit ourselves into a demoninational role...but continue to reach out to our missionairy roots.

But, what I got off track with was the facts of my life lately that have had all kinds of people trying to define me and what I want to do for the rest of my life!

I have applied at MTSU to enter the Education program, only to be told that the standards in North Carolina where I was 4 semesters completed in this program were different in Tennessee. That difference is going to require me to basically begin over. I have 100+ hours total between the 2 schools that I have gone to and now it seems like I having many classes that "sound" like there classes are not their classes, will have to start all over as an incoming freshman to ever get a degree.

now, i could finish my psychology degree or my history degree...but neither one of these would bear the fruit of $ that I'm looking forward to...gotta get a master's degree to use the psychology, and really specialize another masters or teacher's licsnse to use the history....

i really felt like the lady i was speaking with was talking down to me and should have let me "splain to her some things. gary was chomping at the bits to splain things to her too... she was soooo upset with the admissions office, she told us that she'd just go over there and slap some faces off! so, anyway, i left there feeling really disgusted with myself... did i do all that work for nothing...?

well...determinitation set in, and now i'm trying to solve this puzzle. I'm looking into a different program at Belmont university. I have applied, and then I dropped by. I enterd the reception area to a voice that says - are you the one that called for directions? I said yea...that's bad if you define what i'm gonna look like before you see me! I began my business with the receptionist...who in turn calls someone to check on the status of my application...she listens, then hangs up the phone and tells me that Ms Teresa has reviewed my application and has given my name to Kim to be admitted into the adult study program. I said, I don't remember asking to be in the adult study program. the young girl smiled. In fact, I very much am going to be a full time student at your school here. I know she didn't need the whole story, but she got some of it anyway...I explained to her that I was at a place in my life that I wanted to finish this degree. She gave me the name of the transfer advisor in the department i want to enter and his phone number. i thanked her and left for the car. as i got in the car, i became more and more dissatifyed with Ms Teresa upstairs. How dare she decide to put me in the adult program...so, i got back out of the car and went back inside. The young girl is now smiling widely behind the desk as I say, "Does that Teresa lady work in this building? I need to see her. I need to understand why she put me into the adult study program. She chuckles...and calls her, and hands me the phone. Teresa was suprised to hear my voice and told me thatshe had looked at my age and defined me as an Adult Study Student. I corrected her definition... and felt a little better.

but, you know...i've never been one to be defined...i don't want to be typical anything. i don't want to be the typical wife and mother that breaks herself over trying to keep a spotless house...not dirty, but probably not spotless. i do want to be the undefined mother that dances to the music at the end of a tarzan movie because her 4 year old tells her its time to do so..."do it like this mom"...i'm the pastor's wife that lots of people say..."you're a pastor's wife"...you're hair doen't look like a pastor's wife...etc. wow!

but, most of all i still try to dress unexpected, and live unexpected. it's seeming to be the only way to go! As for school...ive done lots of research...and unless i desire to move back to unc asheville to finish, there will be a new journey unfold around here...and who only knows what road it will lead. I'm sure of one thing, it will be a road undefined to me and my family, and so maybe we'll be able to blaze a trail for them to come through someday when they find themselves here where i am today.

but this one thing i know...God is faithful to those of us defined and undefined people. he loves us all. I don't know righgt now how everything will come together, but i know it will!
peggy

43 Years On January 13th!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2pLFaGKfys8/R4la8eLJVMI/AAAAAAAAADM/j5avqyR74eY/s320/Picture+068.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154751243440706754" />
Happy Anniversary to the two people that influenced who I am the most!
It's always been a real treat to be able to say that my parents are still married to each other...after all, not many people can say that! You are so beautiful, and we are so very proud of you!
Let me brag a little...
Krista is becoming quite a beautiful person! She is 19 years old and is using her vocal talents that God has given her...and talent is not good enough...she is anointed with a special gift. She recorded her first song at 12 or 13 with her church choir. She is also a Sophomore at Lee University and is a member of the elite group Lee Singers. It'a full of people who lived some strange messed up lives! God always proves that He receives Glory from people that trust Him! Sunday in the Youth Sunday School Class, we talked about Jephthah. You'll find his story in Judges 11. Jephthah lived a rough life, it was rough for him before he was old enough to know it... it's quite a story.
He was the product of his dad's relationship with a prostitute. He lived with his dad's family until they sent him away. When he began to make a name for himself, they called him back to get them out of a fix when an old enemy raises its head to try to take back some land that had been in Israel's possession for 300+ years... Believe it or not, he goes and does what they ask! The story goes on to say that not only did he do what they asked, "the spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah" and he was able to retain the land and dispose of the enemy. In the heat of the battle, Jephthah made a vow to God...you know, one of those "if you get me out of this, I'll..." vows. It was that he would sacrifice the first thing that came through his door to greet him when he returned home after the battle to the Lord for keeping him safe. I know crazy.
I remember making some sort of "if you'll get me out of this" vow when I was 7 or 8 on top of a county fair roller coaster that was held up by cinder blocks...but really, I have kept that vow. I have never been on another county fair roller coaster...and I don't ever plan to!:)
Jephthah's vow ended up being a little more harsh...his only child was the one that ran through the door to greet him...there are differences of opinion as to whether the daughter actually lost her physical life or lost her life to live as a celebate in the church...
today, I'm thinking how many times have I said things I didn't want to follow through with, or said things that would hurt someone very close to me...?

Psalms 19:14 says "May the words of my mouth and the meditaiton of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, My Rock, and My Redeemer."

O Lord, we live in a world that people get away with saying almost anything. It seems to be acceptable that a simple "I'm sorry" is supposed to be enough to get you out of almost anything...but Lord, I know that words can hurt, but they can also help and heal. Let me be careful what I speak, knowing that the power of life and death is in my mouth. Let me speak words that encourage and strengthen rather than drag someone down. Let my words speak of Your Faithfulness and Peace. Let me most of all THINK BEFORE I SPEAK. and may the words of my mouth and the thoughts in my heart please You!
Amen.
I said God is Faithful!
Peggy

Well Maybe Santa is a Razorback fan too???

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2pLFaGKfys8/R4G3TXoI9OI/AAAAAAAAACo/FeY7ctOkf6g/s320/100_0075.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152600992076330210" />
This was the comfort shot I got this week while at a funeral in Waveryly, TN (middle of nowhereville)...what a comfort to know there are other avid razorback fans stuck in tennessee too!

WHOOOOOOOOOOOO PPPIIIG SOOOOiE! We spent New year's eve with a family saying goodbye to their mother. Martha Baggett was quite a character...she loved her 5 children and bunches of grandchildren. She's one of those that I am very sure I missed out on! I think she would have taught me something about life! Even on her last Sunday, she was playing with her adult children and doing her best to hide from them in her room...oh, you should know she was totally immobile at this point! What fun it was as we sat there listening to stories of their life with this mother. The stories were awesome. I know I would have loved to know her! we worshipped with the family today at waverly, tennessee as they celebrated her life with a home-going service! tomorrow we will enjoy fellowship with them as we serve lunch to them at the family life center. Our little trips back and forth to waverly proved interesting....:) there is not a straight line between columbia and waverly. strangest thing. mapquest takes you on some sightseeing adventures between here and there! lovely as they were, i sure was beginning to be nervous about the fact that there were no other cars on the road...? we found some property for sale, but decided we may not remember where it was...we saw tons of whitetail which excited everyone in our car except me and katelyn...in fact, we almost got run over by the biggest doe i've ever seen...really. I kept looking for a ram, but no cigar. :) (have you ever seen anything like that again tom & steph?) just when my heart began it's normal rythm again, the squirrels ran out in the road.... eeek! i think there's a squirrel conspiracy to scare the snott out of me...i have too many close encounters with squrrels this year...you wouldn't believe it if i told you...anyway, i hate squirrels now! we eventually made it to our destination. Hallelujah. It had taken us 1 hour 45 minutes to travel 63.5 miles....? crazy.
oh yeah...it's cold here! from what i hear, it's cold everywhere...it's like 12 degrees in the mornings when i'm taking the kids to school and there has to be a discussion about whether or not to wear a coat with katelyn...duh! I was just wondering, can someone let me know if it's not kewl to wear a coat...is there something good about freezing to death....? oh well...mean mother won and kb wore a coat. somehow, i have been attacked with a terrible cold that has plagued me with a horrible sinus headache. i am on drugs to control it, but i hate that feeling...gary of course thinks it's funny...he says lets stay up so i can get you to do funny stuff....i say, no thank you! he will never change! biggest kid i know.
katelyn is trying out with all the other middle school girls for the fastpitch softball team at her middle school! she is very agressive. needs more confidence in herself because she is really good.....i'm scared of her pitch it's really fast and hard! her pitching coach says she is awesome. so...since this is our first real "try out" situation...we don't know what to expect. it will be fine i'm sure. but nervous is the mood around this momma. kate is not nervous by the way. she says that nothing is impossible with god and that she can do all things through christ that gives her strength! i know she's right, it's just hard to watch without fixing anything.
but all in all, i think we're on a pretty good start. I'm enrolled at Middle Tennesse State University in murfreesboro to finish my degree....again ;). and not sure what all that's gonna be yet...but, i am going to finish this! i am. we're setting goals and vision casting for the church here...we've been here since june and now feel like the lord is giving clear direction to where we're headed! thank God!
We would love to hear from each of you. i miss the old times! what can i say. it's weird to realize it's been close to 10 years. but do not ever think that for one minute you are not remembered in a daily conversation at our house. most of those conversations are followed with lots of laughter!

But the capstone event of my week...as we're leaving the funeral home for the graveside at waverly, tn, today, i spotted something that made me smile and feel all warm inside! right there in waverly tennessee, in the front yard on main street was santa in his sleigh being pulled not by reigndeer, but by none other than the world famous razorbaks! it was the cutest thing! the hogs were hitched to the sleigh and i am sure that all the toys were delivered with record speed this year! i love love love it! i will get a picture of that on here when i can find the cord for my camera...it's lost in the travelling stuff...

Thank you Lord for a scattered but faithful week! You know what God? You are Faithful to me! thanks!

later <3
peggy

What A Week... whew1

Wishing you a BLESSED New Year!

"...for I know the plans I have for you..." we have practiced ourselves silly around here! kate and sam were in the kid's play this morning, and I was in the carolling tonight....whew! it was a lot of hard work, but it was worth is, and both of them turned out very well. all of our kids stole the show! katelyn has a very strong voice and now the confidence to go with it. she could be quite a little performer someday! sam and kate knew all their lines ... as far as a proud momma could tell! it was lots of fun! now i've been saddened to realize that kate will not be in the children's play next year. she will be passing into a new era...the youth department. another time for mom to sit and think about her baby growing up and not liking it too much! but oh well...i must be beginnig to enter my next favorite time of her life... i must say that she is a wonderful and beautiful. for the most part, she is very obedient and respectful. katelyn is one of the most hardworking kids i know. she cares sooo much about what other people think and worring that they might offended about something...she is always on guard and makes everyone comfortable with her! sam is what shall i say...sam. he makes everybody laugh, and tries way tooo hard to take care of everyone! He is especially making sure that his teacher has all his needs met! ...suck up! oh well. he's a pretty good kid too! kaleigh just giggles for absolutely no reason. everything is funny to her! she is in the best description...a mess! what would we ever have done without her! she is definitely the best suprise of my life! and well...what would i do if they weren't around...probably sit around and wait for them to come by!:) those days ahead make me feel like i should soak up every second of what happens now! there'll come a day i might remember this day and wonder what they were wearing.??? but, i will remember! Time is such a strange little thing.

Do You Know Him? Katelyn was a little too embarrassed to get in the picture! This has prompted me to ask them what they think about other stuff...like why did McDonald's choose the golden arches as their logo, or why does Frosty the Snowman carry a broom? She should be very excited about this...she is. but ever since she found out the news, her husband has gone nuts...he can't talk to her. He can't talk to anyone for that matter. All he can do is try to make signs that don't really make any sense. So, she is somewhere between 5 or 6 months in the baby process when she realizes she hasn't felt the baby move. She begins to think about it more and more....and more...why isn't it moving? She lies down and waits for a movement...nothing...she stands and waits, nothing...she sits, nothing. Now she finds herslf in a place where she must be happy in public...after all, the news of Elizabeth having a baby was all the buzz around town..."can you believe it?" "A woman her age..." "She's so lucky..." "I would love to be Elizabeth..." She would openly receive the comments and excitement, but secretly worry. Elizabeth worried that what she had spent her life waiting on was dead. She didn't dare voice those words of worry or doubt. She just waited for the baby to move. It became so hard to be out in public and hide her worry, that she decided to stay in the house until she was sure everything was alright. So there she sat, her husband in his own world, and she in hers...waiting, but no kick, no nudge, nothing at all.

Little did Liz know that across town, Gabriel had visited another woman. This time, a relative of hers... Mary. Mary was told that she too was pregnant. She was carrying the Christ child...the salvation of the world. Mary thought...me! Highly favored among women?! How can this be? Have you ever been told something that left you to ponder it..."Lord, I'm gonna have to think about this one? You know I'm not married, and Joseph and me...well, we're "waiting". If I tell Joseph about the baby, how will he believe it?"

Ya know, if we tell people what God was doing in our life...they wouldn't believe it! Some of us can't tell our testimony because it's simply unbelieveable....not that it's private. It's just that it would be hard for anybody to believe that someone as screwed up and messed up as you were could be where you are now. Cause, they see you now. All clean, dressed up and ready for church! People probably think...boy, I wish I was like her, or I wish I was him... ha ha ha...if they only knew, you still look the same when you get out of bed in the morning as you did before, and yep, you sleep with your mouth open and slobber goes everywhere....:)

Mary thought long enough to remember. She remembered that Elizabeth had had something just as crazy and unbelievable happen in her own life. She suddenly had to go to her. It's always better to talk to someone who has been through your situation..."at least she will understand..." People who've been there don't judge.

As Mary beats on the door...she calls out..."Elizabeth hurry...I need to tell you something...hurry" You see...this is where a "set - up" is happening. There's a picture here of God's respect for the unborn... strangely enough...Mary thought she and Liz would be talking...ha! God had other conversations in mind.

Think about what you're meeting about...the simple meeting you set up is not simple any longer. It's opening what's been shut, it's life will be evidenced! What is in you today that you have about given up on...what is it that thing you haven't felt move...is it a dream, is it your destiny????

When Elizabeth and Mary sat down to talk...the Word says that they were exchanging salutations, when IT happened. It wasn't a woman to woman conversation...it was now baby to baby! I have a picture in mind that Mary is spilling all to Elizabeth when IT happend...Elizabeth stopped listening...Mary stopped talking...the babies were now center stage. John was now leaping around in there! As Elizabeth felt that first kick, all her worry melted away. The two women cried and laughed, cried and laughed...then Mary sang. They worshipped together! They rejoiced together... They had been so confused, but now it was so clear. They both realized that the plan of salvation was ALIVE!

I feel like the women never doubted this situation again...they knew in whom they had believed. They knew that the work that God had started, He would be faithful to complete.

Thank you God that when we are in times of transition, and we don't know who to talk to, and we are not even sure what to say if we did talk to someone, that You are there. Remind us that You WILL complete what you've started!

You better believe He Is Faithful to complete what He's started!

Later.
Peggy

I'd hate to be left speechless because of...

Well...for those NLR's...the Lord has been taking me somewhere new... It is a normal thing for me to fill the pulpit. I know. It took me a while to get it too...? But I do enjoy it. So...last Sunday night, I touched on this idea a little... something to think about.........

I have read "Your Life Follows Your Words" by Darlene Bishop in the last year... this opened up a whole new way of thinking and talking for me! In the last 2 years or so, we have found ourselves in a place that God is all we have, so that's all we need... We have learned a lot of things. We are praying and learning on a different level now and listenining with different ears. Now, to God be the glory that Gary's health has improved - totally... I don't know about you, but for us, we have had to learn that we can TRUST on a whole different level. So, if you haven't read this book, you should! If you haven't heard of Darlene Bishop, you should! She's a little Kentucky girl that has an awesome testimony and preaches as well or better than anyone I've ever heard before!

Take a look at Luke 1. Zechariah and Elizabeth had always wanted a child. The Bible tells us that they were both upright people. Luke makes it clear that the only reason that they had not conceived a child was not because they were being punished for something they did or did not do, but in fact, vs 6 says that they walked blameless before the Lord keeping all the commandments and regulations. The only reason the Bible gives is that Elizabeth was barren and that she and her husband were getting old. Isn't it hard to realize that sometimes we may never understand why it seems like bad things happen to good people!

Zechariah, being of the priestly order, was at the temple performing the duties of the priest by burning inscence. As he entered the altar, he saw Gabriel. Now what a sight. The man has a job to do. He's gone in there following the rules, with one thing on his mind. What an interruption Gabriel must have been. I think that Zech just stood there...stunned that today was different...staring at what he thought was an angel...

Then Gabriel spoke. "Your wife is going to have a son." He gave pretty specific instructions about how to raise him, and told him exactly what his name should be...John. Now personally, I don't think that Zech heard anything past "you're gonna have a son". Just as soon as the angel had finished...Zechariah opened his mouth and said, "How can I be sure? I am an old man now, and my wife is well along in years..." (good men never say their wife is old...:)

As Gabriel stood in that temple, he stopped Zechariah in mid sentence. He said, "Do you know who I am? I normally stand in the presence of God! But, today, He has sent me with your answer. Time has come that the desire of your heart come to pass. I heard God speak your son into exsistence...it will happen. Not only is your answer on the way, your child will play a very important role in bringing salvation to this lost world! God has given me authority to keep you quiet until the day of your son's birth, and to keep words of doubt from stopping that plan, you will be speechless until John is born."

You see, this is the only place I have found in the Bible that God shut someone up to keep them from spoiling His plan. It is amazing to think that God was so determined to bring salvation to the world that he kept one man from voicing his doubt.

I just wonder how many answers to my prayers were stopped by my words of doubt or negativity?

Lord, please help me to always see You at work in my life. Let me be very careful to speak against what You have planned for me. Even if it seems like a harmless statement, please remind me to listen to the words coming out of my mouth and let doubt be exchanged by faith and expectancy! For after all, You are God, and I am not.

Psalms 103 tells me that by the words of His mouth, I am saved, delivered, healed, protected, preserved, and made whole through the blood of your Son! Let the answer I'm waiting on be here quickly, and never let me be left speechless because of doubt.

I know God is Faithful to complete what He has started!

Peggy

Well Hey there!

Welcome to my new blog!

I'm trying to catch up with the rest of you....

Today, I'm inspired with this reading I found while unpacking some more stuff...(we've been here since June...:) it's really time to finish that unpacking stuff....

I have plans of hanging it outside my door.

"This is a Home Where Children Live" by Judith Bond

You may not find hings all in place when you enter here my friend,
But we're a home where children live,
We hold them very dear.
And you may find small fingerprints
or smudges on the wall,
When the kids are gone, we'll clean them up...
Right now we're playing ball.
For there's one thing of which we're sure,
These children are on loan.
One day they're under foot,
next thing you know, they're up and gone...
That's when we'll have a well-kept house,
When they're off and on their own.
Right now, this is a place where children live!
A loved and lived in home.

...and boy is it lived in.... :) it's ok.
